The Hunter Synagogue is a welcoming, inclusive Jewish community grounded in egalitarian values and an open-minded approach to practice. While we remain anchored in over a century of tradition on the mountaintop, our services—conducted in both Hebrew and English—feature participatory songs and incorporate elements from across the Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, and Jewish Renewal movements.

We are unaffiliated with any specific denomination and our congregation embraces a diverse range of Jewish expressions.

Our goal is to foster a warm, hamisha atmosphere that honors timeless rituals while remaining fully immersed in the modern world. At The Hunter Synagogue, we offer a space for spiritual growth and connection; we are the kind of community where visitors are often invited for an Aliyah during their very first visit.

Our calendar includes High Holiday services, monthly Shabbat services, and life cycle events—including Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, and funerals—held throughout the year.
