The Hunter Synagogue is a welcoming and inclusive Jewish community, grounded in egalitarian values and open-minded practice while remaining anchored to our more than a hundred years of tradition for Jewish life on the mountaintop. Our services, which include both Hebrew and English with an abundance of participatory songs, incorporate elements of various Jewish movements including Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist, and Jewish Renewal. We are unaffiliated with any specific denomination.
We embrace a progressive Zionist approach to Jewish life and learning. Our community values efforts to make our mountaintop a better place for all. We seek to create a warm, hands-on hamisha atmosphere that honors the timeless rituals of Judaism while remaining fully immersed in the modern world. We aim to offer a place for all Jews to grow spiritually and connect with others. We are the kind of community where you are likely to be invited for an Aliyah from the first time you join us.
We hold high holiday services as well as Shabbat services on the first Friday night of every month. We also hold life cycle events (Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, funerals) throughout the year.
We hope to support and enrich your Jewish journey through holiday services, educational opportunities, social cultural events, and volunteer initiatives.
